Book Reviews

“This is one of those books that stays with you long after you’ve finished reading it. What makes it so powerful isn’t just the story—it’s the courage it took to tell it.

My brother has always been someone who kept his deepest thoughts and emotions to himself, so seeing him open up with such honesty about our family’s trauma, the loss of our father to suicide, addiction, pain, and the journey toward faith was incredibly moving. It takes tremendous strength to be this vulnerable, and I couldn’t be prouder of him for sharing his heart in hopes of helping others.

Whether you’ve experienced trauma, struggled with addiction, questioned your faith, or simply need hope during a difficult season, this book reminds you that your past does not define your future. Healing is possible, purpose can be found, and no one has to walk through life’s darkest moments alone.

I highly recommend this book. It’s honest, inspiring, and a beautiful reminder that even the deepest pain can be transformed into hope.”

“I purchased this book because I have met Curtis, and his family and my husband knows him from doing Work for his company it takes a lot of courage for somebody to write a book about their life and open up about things that most people hide or may feel ashamed of.

I highly recommend reading this book. Reading this book had me in tears at parts so many emotions flowing. Thank you for sharing parts of your life that most won’t talk about there are some parts that I can relate to personally and that hit home.”

“Once I sat down to read this book, I'm glad I had nothing else pressing because I didnt put it down until the final page.

I saw so many people I care about (and yes, some of myself) in the words which just flowed in such an easy read.

I felt like the author was just telling me his story and I was so excited to hear it all.

Well done, message received and I may be gifting this to loved ones!”

  • Breaking the Chains

This novel proves that how you see a person on the outside; Happy, Carefree, Confident and ‘It’s all Good’ demeanor, really is hiding the demons that live behind the scenes. I had an idea of his background for the most part, but putting it all out there for everyone to read really opened my eyes on all the trials and tribulations he has endured. We all have them in life, of some kind. It’s how you handle them and make the best choices by them. I am so proud of my Brother in law, Curtis Ian Larson and his novel, Something Only God Could Do for sharing his life of loss, addiction, survival and finding his faith in God to save him from the demons within. I also want to thank everyone that helped Curtis see the light. It took an army of strong Christian leadership to get this man on the right path! I appreciate each and everyone of you for being there for him during his difficult times.

May the Lord continue to guide his healing steps and bless his life.

    We love you Curtis ❤️

  • Couldn't Put It Down

I read Something Only God Could Do in one night and couldn’t put it down. Curtis is a really good friend of mine, and I thought I knew a lot about his story, but after reading this book, I realized there was so much I never knew.

It was heartbreaking to read about some of the things he went through and to understand more about what led him down the path of alcoholism and the toll it eventually took on his health, relationships, and life.

But more than anything, this is a story about finding sobriety, finding God, and finding your way back when life has gotten so far off track. Knowing Curtis personally made it even more powerful for me. I’m incredibly proud of the person he is today and of him for having the courage to share his story. It’s raw, real, inspiring, and absolutely worth the read. ❤️

After reading Curtis's book and the trials and tribulations he went through as a child and young man, I gained deep admiration and respect for him as he reveals how he was strengthened by faith and became the loving man, husband & father who I have the pleasure of knowing today. Many who look for advice, help and hope in their own personal struggles can be transformed after reading this insightful, heartfelt and empowering book.
